The film deals with a day in the life of William, an assistant manager of a restaurant, and his struggles dealing with the shenanigans of his best friend Harry (a host), the arguments with his ex-girlfriend Becca (a server), the drama between Dave and Karen (a cook and a server), and your usual assortment of assholes and idiots - both in front of and behind the counter.
The night before this fateful shift, the staff had a party. Dave got drunk enough to profess his love for Karen; unfortunately, he got so drunk he doesn't remember what happened next. A well intentioned prank by Harry misfires, forcing William and staff to plan, ploy, and scheme in an effort to bring Dave and Karen together again. An engagement announcement by another server pushes William into rethinking his feelings and decisions regarding Becca, a potential move out of state, and his life in general.
The basic story was developed over much of 2004, with the script written in late 2005. If you'd like to read it, you can download it here, provided you (a) don't e-mail it to anyone else, and (b) don't steal my work. If you enjoy it, tell your friends to come and download it too; if you want to be part of the cast and crew, e-mail scott(at)angryscott.com and state your desired goal in subject line.
I do have a few tunes lined up for the non-commercial version of the film, and here are the artists who have graciously allowed me to use their works:
I could use a few more tracks, however. If you're in a band and wouldn't mind letting me use your music in the festival (non-commercial; any studio who would actually buy this piece of crap movie would have to negotiate with you for rights for a commercial release), send an e-mail with the phrase "Pancake Hustlers - Music" in the subject line.
